How many driving lessons will I need before I am test ready?+
It varies by learner. Prior experience, how often you can have lessons and how much private practice you get all make a difference. Most learners benefit from weekly lessons combined with regular practice between sessions. Your instructor will give you an honest, ongoing view of your progress rather than a fixed number up front.
Should I learn in a manual or an automatic car?+
A manual licence lets you drive both manual and automatic vehicles later, while an automatic licence only covers automatic cars. Automatic lessons remove gear changes, so some learners find early progress feels quicker. If you are not sure, tell us about your goals and we can recommend a starting point.
What is included in the price of a lesson?+
Every lesson includes one to one tuition, use of a dual controlled vehicle and fuel for the lesson. There are no hidden add-on charges, and manual and automatic pricing is always shown separately upfront.
Do you offer intensive driving courses?+
Yes, in two forms. Crash fits more hours into each week for faster progress than Regular lessons, and Speedster runs over consecutive weekends or a short block of days for learners working to a fixed deadline. Both still cover the full syllabus properly rather than rushing it.
What happens if I do not pass my test the first time?+
It happens to plenty of capable drivers and it is not a setback to be discouraged by. Your examiner's report tells us exactly which areas to focus on, and we will build a short plan to address them before your next attempt.
Do I need to pass my theory test before starting lessons?+
No, you can start practical lessons at any point once you hold a valid provisional licence. You will need a theory test pass before you can book your practical test though, so it is worth studying alongside your early lessons.
What areas do you cover?+
We currently teach across Cheetham Hill, Crumpsall, Prestwich, Bredbury. If you are just outside these areas, get in touch and we will let you know if we can help.
What should I bring to my first lesson?+
Bring your provisional driving licence, comfortable flat shoes and glasses or contact lenses if you need them for driving. That is genuinely all you need. Your instructor will cover the rest.
What is a mock test and is it worth doing?+
A mock test is a full practice test, marked to the DVSA standard, on the routes your test centre actually uses. Your instructor stops teaching for the session and marks instead, so you find out whether you are genuinely test-ready rather than nearly there, and you leave with a marked sheet showing exactly what to work on.
How do I get started?+

How do I change or move a lesson time?+
Lesson times are arranged directly with your instructor rather than through an online booking system, so if your plans change simply message or call them as early as you can. Giving reasonable notice helps them offer that slot to another learner and avoids a wasted trip for everyone.
What is the earliest age I can start learning to drive?+
You can apply for a provisional driving licence at 15 years and 9 months, and begin practical lessons on public roads once you turn 17, or earlier if you receive a qualifying disability benefit. Plenty of our learners start their first lesson as soon as their birthday allows.
Do lessons still go ahead in bad weather?+
Generally yes, since driving in rain, wind and low light is a normal part of learning to drive safely on UK roads. In genuinely unsafe conditions such as ice, snow or flooding, your instructor will use their judgement and get in touch to rearrange rather than risk the lesson.
Is the driving test fee included in the price of my lessons?+
No course price includes the DVSA practical test fee, since that is paid directly to the DVSA when you book your test. We are always upfront about what is and is not included before you commit to anything.
Are your instructors qualified?+
Before we introduce you to an instructor, we check their credentials and DBS status. You are welcome to ask to see your instructor's DVSA badge or licence in the car windscreen.
What happens if I am running late for a lesson?+
Let your instructor know as soon as you can. A short delay is rarely a problem, but persistent lateness eats into lesson time, since your instructor will usually still need to finish at the agreed time to reach their next learner.
Am I covered by insurance during a lesson?+
Yes. Our vehicles are fully insured for learner drivers during lessons, so you do not need to arrange any insurance of your own to take a lesson with us. This is separate from any insurance you would need if practising in a private car with a friend or family member outside of lesson time.
I hold an international driving licence. Can I still take lessons with you?+
Yes. Depending on where your licence was issued, you may be able to exchange it for a UK licence without taking a further test, or you may need to hold a UK provisional licence and pass both tests as a new learner would. We are happy to build lessons around whichever route applies to you, with a focus on UK-specific rules and road positioning either way.
Can I take night driving or motorway lessons before I pass my test?+
Night driving practice can be built into your ordinary lessons once your instructor feels you are ready for it. Motorway driving, however, is only available once you have passed your test, since provisional licence holders are not permitted on motorways except in specific supervised circumstances.
